Car ban to create city’s ‘gay village’ a step nearer

Council leader Cllr Warren Bradley said he would support the plans if they reflected what the LGBT community wanted.

He said: “I’ve always remained agnostic on this. It’s up to the gay community to say what they want and for the council to try to accommodate them.

“It can’t be solely for the Lesbian Gay, Bisexual and Transgender community. It’s got to be for everyone to access.”

The city council will now analyse the consultation responses before drawing up a report on the next steps.

A Liverpool city council spokesman said: “We are now considering the proposals in the light of the responses.”
