Facebook bid to save Wirral’s culture sites

Following the official start of the “consultation process” at last week’s cabinet meeting Conservative councillors are now pressing for an Area Forum meeting in each community, as well as full scrutiny of the cuts by several of the council’s overview and scrutiny committees.

Cllr Leah Fraser said: “A consultation period that involves perhaps a single Area Forum meeting for the whole Borough, over the Christmas period, is clearly not designed to allow as many members of the public as possible to take part.”

The plans have also come under fire from Wirral’s Labour MPs, with Wirral West’s Stephen Hesford calling them it a “slash and burn review”.
