British couple stuck in Hong Kong hotel after swine flu case

A BRITISH couple who are quarantined in a Hong Kong hotel joked that it could be “a test” of their marriage.

Eddie and Terry Sweeney are among around 350 guests who have been banned from leaving the Metropark Hotel Wanchai after a Mexican traveller who was staying there developed swine flu.

Now the couple, who have been married for 38 years, are stuck in their room for most of the day although they are allowed downstairs to collect meals.

“It could be a test of the marriage,” joked Mr Sweeney, 62, a retired Metropolitan Police officer from Hazlemere, Buckinghamshire.

“When you look out of the window and see the weather – which is fantastic – you think you should be on a beach.

“It’s air-conditioned, which is nice but the windows are sealed up so there’s no fresh air.”
