Fashion Victim column: Skinny girls wear thin for our men

BRACE yourselves ladies, I have some very important research findings to impart.

Apparently when it comes to looks, men would much rather wrap their arms around the fulsome figures of Scarlett Johansson and Jennifer Lopez than the skinny frame of Victoria Beckham or Keira Knightley.

Scientists at St Andrews University came to this conclusion after showing dozens of photographs of women of varying sizes, to male students and asking them to rate each of the women’s bodies.

In the study researchers found that the women the men rated as being the most attractive and healthy were those classed as being in the “normal” weight range, ie those with a BMI of between 18.5 and 25.

Now don’t you feel better about yourself knowing that? Don’t you feel like reaching for a second digestive with your morning cuppa?

Did I mention these researchers discovered this shortly after a different group of experts revealed that water is wet?

Okay, I am being facetious. However, you have to agree the fact men prefer women with squidgy breasts and bottoms to twiglets with xylophone rib cages is hardly news is it?

The lead researcher in the study said he hoped that the findings would send a message to young women who may believe that they need to be underweight to be considered attractive by the opposite sex.
