Important to keep a proper perspective
WHILE I think it is a good idea that we are to finally get a Sarah’s Law in this country – albeit a watered down one (Daily Post, March 3) I worry about all this talk about the whereabouts of paedophiles.
I completely understand a need to protect children, but at the same time I fear that we are engendering a belief in people that individuals who want to do harm to children are on every street corner. This law could make that worse.
People who wish to do harm to children make up a tiny percentage of the population, and I think it is vital that we maintain some perspective.
