Memories of the Lewis’s hair salon anyone?
I HAVE just read the report that Lewis's is to close. One of my very earliest memories is of my mother taking me to Lewis's to have my hair cut.
The salon was on the top floor and instead of sitting in a normal chair they were all animals of various types: a bear, horse, an elephant.
I also remember when they had finished cutting your hair they singed it with a taper.
This was about 1926. Although I have spoken to friends in Liverpool about this I have never found anyone else who remembers this. Would any of your readers confirm that I am not dreaming this?
