IT WAS with some amusement that I read J Knott’s anti-Christian nonsense (Letters, July 2). He reiterates the comment of PR Jones that Christians “hold beliefs without adequate reason to do so”. This, of course, is ridiculous.

I ATTENDED the exhibition at the Concourse, in West Kirby, on Saturday, for the proposals for the new hotel and sailing school. I was impressed by how available the developers were to the general public, and how calmly and pleasantly they answered my questions, but was utterly horrified at the abuse to which they were subjected by some West Kirby residents.

RE. the letters June 26, discussing the stories found in the Bible. Very sensible points were made by Mr P Ion and PR Jones. It is true as Mr Jones says, that many Christians simply hold beliefs without adequate reason to do so.

CAN someone tell me what it will have to take for the television bosses to take Big Brother off the air? A serious assault? A murder? From what I can gather, and I am not watching the series (this is from what I read in the papers) there has been some utterly disgusting behaviour from the housemates (or should that be inmates?) this series, and it has barely even got started.

I WAS very sad to read in the Daily Post about the death of Cliff Hall, of The Spinners. In those days, outside jazz clubs, it was very unusual to see black and white people performing on the same stage.

I CAN’T understand these petty councillors finding reasons to object to the “Tesco” stadium idea in Kirkby. Has the question been asked “can Everton afford to fund a stadium elsewhere?” If they took on a debt for it, would they be able to repay?
