AFTER the success of the BBC’s revitalised Dr Who, you could almost hear ITV frantically looking for reworkable old hit shows in an industry that doesn’t overdo originality.
Hence, ITV is remaking the Portmeirion-based The Prisoner and even hired the first “new era” Dr Who, Christopher Eccleston, to play Number Six.
But ITV chiefs should ensure that Eccleston’s contract “handcuffs” for a good while.
He resigned after the first revived Dr Who series, as the poor luvvie fretted over being typecast.
