THE Queen has her New Year's Honours, so why can't the Daily Post's Pub Column. So, with due respect to the late great Alan "Fluff" Freeman, here's your Top Ten for 2006 On The Pop Pickers. Not 'arf (or should that be a pint, please?).

To the swathe of enterprising new local brewers opening up in the area, including Neil Young's Brimstage brewery, Mike McGuigan at Betwixt and Tony Canavan of Canavans.
 
Elvis Costello Honorary Scouser Medal:

 
To the Dusanj brothers, who have put the city and Cains on the national brewery map with their mixture of hands-on Suvvern savvy and a great belief, unlike some others, in the power that the Liverpool brand has outside the city. Gawd bless yer, guvs.
 
David Dickinson Cheap as Chips Award:
 
To the Exchange in Old Hall Street and the Poste House on Cumberland Street for continuing to provide some of the cheapest ale and doubles bars bargains in Christendom. Order a round and hear your jaw clang on the bar room floor Tom and Jerry style in pleasant surprise at the prices.
