Fashion Vicitim: Audrey is still Fairest of them all

MAYBE it's the elfin features, maybe it’s the gamine crop, the wasp waist, or the dark glasses, or perhaps it’s because she could make a pair of ballet pumps and Capri pants look as glamorous as any ballgown.
Whatever the reason, 16 years after she went to the great red carpet in the sky, we are still obsessed with Audrey Hepburn.
More than half a century has passed since her Hollywood debut yet the Breakfast at Tiffany’s star remains one of our most enduring icons beloved by generations of women, many of whom were not even born when she was cuddling up to the likes of Gregory Peck and Fred Astaire on the silver screen.
These days she has become the go-to girl for classic glamour and countless stars cite her as their inspiration.
Victoria Beckham is said to have a room dedicated to the actress at Beckingham Palace and few would disagree that last year’s crop was a huge nod to her icon.
And Mrs B is not the only Wag channelling the actress. Our own Coleen Rooney says the My Fair Lady star is one of her idols and just before her wedding she joined a long list of celebrities to have donned the little black dress and pearls of Holly Golightly – easily Hepburn’s best known alter ego – for a photoshoot.
Ironically Hepburn, who was a UNICEF ambassador back when Angelina Jolie was in kindergarten and who dedicated her life to humanitarian work in some of the world’s most disadvantaged countries, never considered herself to be a great beauty.
